Safer Internet Day (SID) is here and it is an annual observance celebrated worldwide in February. Over the years, it has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar and this year, today, February 5 Safer Internet Day 2019 will be observed with the theme ‘Together for a better internet’ to raise awareness about cyber safety. To mark the day Google has started a campaign #SecurityCheckKiya by suggesting tips on how to stay safe online, secure your social media accounts, protect your personal data & avoid getting online threats. SID 2019 is focusing on helping young people understand how consent works in an online context (how they ask, give, and receive online consent – this could be in their friendships or relationships) – with a special focus on how they take and share images or videos, and how they manage their privacy and data.
